Thomas Douglas Smith, Sr., 69, husband of 49 years to Brenda Rosemary Winchester Smith, of Lawrenceburg, died Tuesday, June 12, 2018 at the VA Medical Center in Lexington. He was born in Lexington, KY to the late Melvin and Martha Elizabeth Reed Smith. Mr. Smith was a Vietnam veteran serving in the United States Army from 1969-1971 and was a lifelong member of the towing industry and owned Tom Smiths Towing.

Along with his wife he is survived by three children, Doug (Melissa) Smith, Tammy Lynn (Tom) Huff, and Penny (Floyd) Johnson; sister, Angelia Smith, ; six grandchildren, Ashley Taylor Huff, Thomas Smith, Meghan Smith, Cole Johnson, Joshua Huff, and Kyle Johnson, all of Lawrenceburg. He was preceded in death by a brother, Jackie Smith; sister, Judy Thomas; and nephews, Melvin David Smith and Johnny and Chris Winchester. A memorial service will be Saturday, June 16, 2018 at Gash Memorial Chapel at 1:00 p.m. with Bro.

Glenn Corn and Bro. Doug Miller officiating. A procession to the farm will follow.

Visitation will be from 11-1 p.m. prior to the service.
