OBITUARY Thomas Reid Methvin Jr. September 2, 1942 – September 16, 2018 Reid passed away on Sunday, September 16, 2018, at the age of 76. He was a native of Birmingham, AL and longtime resident of Baton Rouge, LA. Reid was a member of Florida Blvd.

Baptist Church for 13 years. He was also a 1964 graduate of Samford University in Birmingham, AL where he was an active member in the Pi Kappa Alpha fraternity. He was a passionate Alabama football fan and proudly wore his Alabama hat.

He loved to travel, going to the health club, and watching Alabama football. Reid is survived by his loving wife of 14 years, Belinda Daquanno Methvin; son, Thomas R. Methvin, III; step-children, Stephen Tyson and wife, Katherine, and Shelly Tyson Fiorito and husband, Nick; step-grandchildren, Nicholas, Noah and Samantha Tyson, Alex Sonnier, Hayden, Zoe and Lyla Fiorito; brother, Mack Methvin and wife, Gayle; and special friend, Tracie Gottschalk. Reid is preceded in death by his first wife, Marie Caldwell; daughter, Susan Marie Methvin; and parents, Thomas R. and Mildred Methvin.

The family would like to extend a special thanks to the staff at The Hospice of Baton Rouge and his caretaker, Veronica Hayes. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Reid’s name to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital. Visitation will be held at Greenoaks Funeral Home, 9595 Florida Blvd.
