Thomas “Sonny” Morris, Jr. of Checotah, Oklahoma October 4, 1935 – January 23, 2019 Morris “Sonny” Thomas, Jr., 83, passed away on January 23, 2019 in Checotah, Oklahoma. Morris was born on October 4, 1935 in Mississippi to Muriel Mabry and Morris Thomas, Sr He served as a United States Marine and fought in the Korean War.

He enjoyed a range of careers throughout his life, from being a truck driver to a well-known and loved tire shop owner in Council Hill, Oklahoma. He was very happily married to Wanda N. Thomas and raised three sons and a daughter. He lived a simple life surrounded by his children, grandchildren, and several great grandchildren, who he loved unconditionally.

Morris is survived by his sister, Kathy McKenna; sons, Morris Thomas III and Jeremiah Thomas; daughter, Wendy Thomas; and many nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends. He was proceeded in death by his wife, Wanda Thomas; sister, Mary Keener; brothers, Charles Thomas and Jamie Thomas; sister, Sally Rolston; and his son, James Thomas.
