Obituary of Thomas Phillippe, Sr. Thomas Edward Phillippe, Sr., 89, Indianapolis, formerly of Marion, died at 2:57 a.m. on Saturday, December 22, 2018, at Vitas Hospice in San Antonio, TX. He was born in Newport News, VA, to the late William and Oney (Gibson) Phillippe on August 17, 1929. He married Joan Melody Cheeseman on June 6, 1953, and she preceded him in death on March 23, 2017.

Thomas graduated from Marion College with a major in religion and theology. He served the Lord as a minister and evangelist for many years and had pastored Coshocton Wesleyan Church in Ohio and Waite Park Wesleyan Church in Minnesota. He received his honorary doctorate degree from Indiana Wesleyan University and founded Nationwide Care, Inc..

Thomas enjoyed hunting, as well as traveling the world with his wife. He will be missed by his son, Thomas (Suzi) Phillippe, Jr., Aspen, CO; daughters, Stacy Phillippe, San Antonio, TX, and Towana (David) Cranor, Fishers; grandchildren, Thomas Phillippe, III, Jeremy (Amy) Phillippe, Tonya (Aaron) Hullett, Lauren Lanteigne, Lindsay (Mike) Siara, Lacey (Zack) Conner, Greg Mervine, Amanda (WB) Cavender, Trenten Mervine, and Christian Cranor; 14 great-grandchildren, and a brother, Joseph Phillippe. In addition to his parents and his loving wife, Dr. Joan Phillippe, he was preceded in death by a brother, William Phillippe, Jr.; sisters, Jane Edwards, Nancy Swauger, and Patche Phillippe.

The family will receive visitors from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Thursday, January 3, 2019, at College Wesleyan Church 200 E. 38th St., Marion, IN. Immediately following the time of visitation, a funeral service to celebrate Thomas’ life will begin at 1 p.m. with Dr. John Maxwell and Rev. Steve DeNeff officiating.

Burial will follow at Grant Memorial Park. Arrangements are entrusted to Needham-Storey-Wampner Funeral Service, North Chapel, 1341 N. Baldwin Ave. , Marion, IN.
