Tina L. Theden, Our Ray of Sunshine has gone on to shine in the Kingdom of Heaven and “live with the Angels,” firm in her belief of Christ’s promise to abide with him and her Heavenly Father. Tina Laura Theden, 61, of Rockford passed peacefully early in the morning of Friday, July 13, 2018 while residing at Rosewood Care Center. Tina was born to Robert and Joan (Fredrickson) Theden on October 5, 1956.
She was a lifelong Rockford resident although she had traveled throughout the United States. Tina was a gentle soul with a kind heart. Always cheerful and rarely complaining, she never had a bad word to say about anyone and was extremely appreciative of all her family and friends.
Tina was well loved and lived a full life, which is a testament to her parents, especially her wonderful Mother. She attended Highland Elementary School, Freeman School, Lincoln Junior High School, and graduated from East High School in 1977. Tina participated in many activities; she was a Girl Scout, a member of the YWCA’s Y-reccers and a member of the original Special Olympics in 1968, where she excelled in swimming and bowling.
Tina was confirmed at Bethesda Covenant Church and spent many years rocking babies to sleep in the church’s nursery, BabyLand. She rarely missed a Sunday until her health declined. Tina was employed at Growth Enterprises, taking great pride in her job and being able to have her own apartment.
Tina enjoyed crafts and puzzles. At a young age she became very adept at jigsaw puzzles, astonishing everyone with her ability to conquer even the hardest ones. Her luck at Bingo was a great joy to her and she was always ready for a game of Parcheesi.
Some sort of puzzle book was constantly in her possession and she enjoyed other hobbies such as embroidery, knitting afghans, and her potholders are legendary. Tina loved living at Rosewood for the past 3 years and her family is very thankful to her Rosewood Family, who cared for her and made it her home. Tina is survived by her parents Robert and Joan (Fredrickson) Theden; brothers, Jack (Sandy) Theden, twin brother, Tim (Agnieszka) Theden; sister, Nancy (Sam) Pirrello; nieces and nephews, Jenna Theden, Tyler Theden, Leif (Christine) Theden, Gunnard (Branigan) Theden, Grace (Ryan) Hansen, Kirstin (Gad) Perdomo, Sophie (Mark Miziniak) Theden, Steig (Michaelee Ludin)Theden, Jesse (Min Ji) Pirrello and Andrew (Tanya) Pirrello.
Tina also leaves behind 10 great nieces and nephews, whom she loved dearly; Aunt and Uncle Robert and Audrey Johnson; along with many cousins. Tina was predeceased by her grandparents; Eric and Rosalyn Theden and Arthur and Edith Fredrickson. A visitation will be held on Friday, July 20, 2018, at 10:00 a.m. with funeral service to follow at 11:00a.m. at Bethesda Covenant Church, 2101 East State St, Rockford.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the family to establish a memorial in Tina’s name.
