Troy R. Ballenger, age 79, of Sweetwater, Texas, passed away on Thursday, January 10, 2019 at Rolling Plains Memorial Hospital. Funeral services will be held 2:00 P.M., Saturday, January 12, 2019 at Cate-Spencer & Trent Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Howard Jones officiating.

Burial will follow at Roby Cemetery. Arrangements are under the direction of Cate-Spencer & Trent Funeral Home. Family will receive friends at the funeral home on Saturday, January 12, 2019 from 1:00 P.M. to service time.

Troy was born on October 16, 1939 in Sweetwater, Texas to Malcom John and Ruby Irene (Terry) Ballenger. He was a graduate of Roby High School. He married Sadie Armstrong on August 28, 1964 in Sweetwater, Texas.

He worked for Martin Sign Company as a sign painter for many years before retiring. Troy and his wife Sadie owned and operated Lemon Street Nursery in Sweetwater for fifteen years. He was a loving husband, father, and grandfather.

He loved his family and his Lord. He is survived by his wife Sadie Ballenger of Sweetwater, Texas; children, Ronny Ballenger, Danny Ballenger, Kenny Ballenger and wife Christy, Kim Clift and husband, Dan, and Richard Ballenger, all of Sweetwater, Texas, five grandchildren, and numerous great grandchildren; two brothers, Cranston Ballenger, and Mike Ballenger and wife Kathy, and two sisters, Virginia Baker, and Julia Soper. He was preceded in death by his parents, Malcom and Ruby Ballenger; brother, Johnny Ballenger and grandson, Zachary Ballenger.

Honorary pallbearers will be grandsons.
