Violet Marie Bishop, 81, of Muskogee, Oklahoma entered Heaven’s Gates on Saturday, January 12, 2019 in Muskogee. Marie was born on October 16, 1937 to Chester and Mary Elizabeth Honeycutt in Okay, Oklahoma. Marie graduated valedictorian of Okay High School, class of 1955.

She was married to Felton Dillion Bishop, Jr. and together they had three children, Beverly Renee, Marion Graham and Keith DeLayne. After her husband’s completion of twenty years of service at various Air Force bases around the United States and Portugal, with final destination at Whiteman Air Force Base in Missouri, Marie and her family settled back in Oklahoma in 1975. Marie worked for several banking institutions spanning 20 plus years in the human res area.

In 1998, Marie joined Whitlock Packaging Corporation in Fort Gibson as Human Res Manager, retiring in 2012. Marie was preceded in death by her parents, Chester and Mary Elizabeth Honeycutt, her first husband, Felton in 1980, her son, Marion in 2006, and her granddaughter Elizabeth Marie Raines in 1986. Marie was also preceded in death by her brothers, Walton, Dewayne and Ronnie Honeycutt and sisters, Joyce Bass and Wilma Dean Roller.

Marie is survived by her daughter, Renee Bishop and Larry Hoover of Lake of the Ozarks, Missouri, her son, Keith Bishop and his wife Sue Ann of Fort Gibson, Oklahoma. She is survived by grandchildren, Julie Montgomery and her husband, Mark of Warrensburg, Missouri, Kyle Bishop and fiancée, Jessica Black of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, and Kristen Nicole Bishop of Fort Gibson, Oklahoma. Marie is also survived by her daughter-in-law, Michaela Bishop of Norman, Oklahoma.

Great grandchildren include Tagan Pinkston, Morgan Montgomery, Shelby Webb and Wyatt Montgomery, all of Warrensburg. Brothers and sisters include Billy Honeycutt of Muskogee, Oklahoma, Carolyn Catron of Okay, Oklahoma, Chris Honeycutt of Okay and Marybeth Sullins of Hume, Missouri. Marie is also survived by numerous other relatives and friends.

A special thank you to Sarah Leath who was a companion and of comfort to her. Memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude’s Children Hospital. A celebration of Marie’s life will be 10AM, Thursday, January 17, 2019 at St. Paul United Methodist Church with Rev.

David Burris officiating. Interment will be at Greenhill Cemetery with Kyle Bishop, Wyatt Montgomery, Mark Montgomery, Jason Jenkins, Stephen Radanovich and Bo Sanders serving as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers will be David Buckmaster, Doug Orick and Bob Wright.
