Velma Lorene Agler, 89, of Ohio City, died at 8:07 p.m., Thursday at Van Crest Health Care Center in Van Wert. She was born on April 1, 1929, in Van Wert County, the daughter of the late Carl and Mildred (Emerling) Hart. On May 23, 1948, she married Basil Leroy Agler, Sr., who preceded her in death on April 22, 2007.

Family survivors include her daughter-in-law, Glory L. Agler of Ohio City; three granddaughters, Holly E. Agler of Auburn, Indiana, Mandy L. Agler of Auburn, and Alison (Brandon) Miller of Van Wert; and two great grandchildren, Carter and Rylan Miller. Besides her parents and husband, Lorene was preceded in death by two children, Portia Lucille Ainsowrth and Basil Leroy “Butch” Agler, Jr.; one sister, Barbara Pollock; and five brothers, Robert, John, Donald, James and Clarence Hart. Services will be held at 11 a.m., Monday, March 18, 2019, at Cowan & Son Funeral Home with Pastor Randy Bevington officiating.

Interment will follow at the Ohio City Woodlawn Cemetery. Calling hours are 9 a.m., until time of service on Monday.
