Velma McKinnon, 69, of Edinburg, passed away surrounded by her family on October 8, 2018 at St. John’s Hospital. Velma was born on October 15, 1948 in Springfield IL, the daughter of George and Edna (Green) Heissinger. She married her husband Gary on January 27, 1967; who she is survived by.

She worked in data entry for the state of Illinois, but her true passion was her great grandson Hunter. He was the light of her life. Velma was preceded in death by her parents; brothers, George L. and Jack Heissinger; and a sister, Florence McCombs.

She is survived by her husband; daughter, Mary of Chatham; son, Michael (Marla) of Edinburg; granddaughter, Samantha Harp of Springfield; and great grandson Hunter LyBarger of Springfield. Visitation will be from 4-8:00 p.m. on Thursday, October 11, 2018 at Wilson Park Funeral Home in Edinburg. Funeral services will be at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, October 12, 2018 at the funeral home with Pastor Aaron McCombs officiating.

Burial will follow at Edinburg Cemetery.
