She was preceded in death by her husband, Rudolph Singleton; her infant sons, Christopher and Jude Singleton; and her parents, Marcel and Aline Fontenot, nee Verette.

Vernice is survived by her children, Hubert Singleton of Fairview Heights, IL, Aline Gaff (Murph Knauff) of Henderson, NV, Anthony (Nadine) Singleton of Henderson, NV, Sandra Oswald of Redding, CA, William Singleton of South San Francisco, CA, Donald (Kimberly) Singleton of Bowling Green, KY, Gerri Spangler of George, IA, and Michael (Susie) Singleton, of Oceanside, CA; 17 grandchildren, 17 great grandchildren; 6 great-great grandchildren; two sisters; and one brother. Friends may call after 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, May 12, 2018 at Combre Funeral Home, 1202 Mill, Lake Charles, Louisiana, 70601-4552. A Mass of Christian Burial will be at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, May 12, 2018 at Immaculate Heart Catholic Church, 2031 Opelousas St. Lake Charles, Louisiana.

Interment will be in Sacred Heart Cemetery, Lake Charles, Louisiana. Local arrangements handled by Kassly Mortuary, Ltd, Fairview Heights, IL. There’s still time to send flowers to the Visitation at the Combre Funeral Home from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM on May 12, 2018.
