HARRISON—Vernon C., 83, Johnstown, died July 19, 2018. Born Dec. 12, 1934 in Johnstown.

Preceded in death by parents, Montell and Mildred (Callahan) Harrison, brother Dean, and brother-in-law Oden Harrison. Survived by wife of 61 years, Marylyn G (Alwine), sons Mark, married to Linda (Rudge) of Gibsonia, PA, and David “Crew” of Johnstown, and granddaughter Haley and partner Joseph Tremmel, both of Boston, MA. Also survived by brothers Byron (Janet) and Clyde; sisters Viona (Larry) Blue, Fern (Marlin) Blue, Sharon (John) Toth, and Denise (Eugene) Bovino; sisters-in-law Delores (Dean) Harrison, Gloria Harrison, and Peggy (Oden) Harrison; and many nephews and nieces including Bob, Lorie, Stephen, Kelcy, Jan, Tom, Megan, Kevin, Portia, Tatum, Garrett, Arielle, Bill, Laura, Dalton, and Eliza.

Vernon was a 1952 graduate of Ferndale High School, served in the U.S. Army, and retired from Bethlehem Steel Corp. in 1984. He was also a house painter for many years both during his employment and well into his retirement.

He was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church and an avid sports fan, supporting local high school teams, mostly his beloved Trojans. Vernon was a friend to all he met and had a huge heart, always putting others first. Above all, his favorite role in life and one he did best was being “Pappy” to his only grandchild Haley.

Visitation 2-4 and 6-8 PM Sunday and from 10 AM to time of service at 11 AM Monday at Harris Funeral Home, 500 Cherry Lane, Richland. Pastor Valerie Conrad, officiating. Interment at Benshoff Hill Cemetery.
