Veronica C. Heldman, age 99, of Celestine, Indiana, passed away at 7:52 p.m. Friday, February 8, 2019, at Brookside Village Retirement Center in Jasper. She was born at Schellville, Indiana, on July 9, 1919, to Bernard and Anna (Humbert) Theising. She married Barnabas Heldman November 10, 1943, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Schnellville, Indiana.

He preceded her in death on December 20, 2009. Veronica was a homemaker and member of St. Isidore Parish – St. Celestine Church. Other memberships include St. Ann Sodality and Celestine Community Club.

She taught religion at St. Celestine for over 25 years and served on the quilting committee. Surviving, five daughters; Germaine Blessinger (Leo) Carolyn Schipp (David) Patricia Fleck (Charles) Sherril Lueken (Greg) all of Jasper, IN Kathleen Wibbeler (Jerry), Huntingburg, IN Two sons; Gregory Heldman (Beth), Greenwood, IN Kevin Heldman (Marilyn), Evansville, IN 17 grandchildren and 16 great- grandchildren. Sister, Mary Ann Schmidt (Louis) Jasper, IN Sister-in-law, Helen Theising, Schnellville, In Preceding her in death besides her husband are sisters Irene Giesler and Dorothy Seger and brother Hilbert Theising.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, February 16, 2019, at St. Celestine Catholic Church with burial to follow in St. Celestine Cemetery. Friends may call from 2-8 p.m. Friday, February 15, 2019 at the Becher-Kluesner Downtown Chapel in Jasper. Memorial contributions may be made to St. Celestine Catholic Church or to a favorite charity.
