Veronica “Vera” Dorio (nee Komar), age 91, passed away on Wednesday February 27, 2019, in the comfort of her home surrounded by her loving children. Born in Jersey City, she moved with her young family to Clark in 1954. Relatives and friends are kindly invited to attend the Funeral on Saturday March, 2, 2019, at 8:30 am, from the Krowicki Gorny Memorial Home 211 Westfield Ave.

Clark, thence to St. John the Apostle R.C. Church, Linden, where a Mass of Christian Burial will be offered at 10 am. Entombment, St. Gertrude Cemetery, Colonia. Visitation Friday from 4-8 pm.

Vera’s favorite charities were St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital and the Special Olympics. Vera was a long time parishioner of St. John the Apostle R.C. Church, Linden. She taught CCD classes, was a Girl Scout leader and Boy Scout Den mother.

She served as President of the Rosary Altar Society for ten years and was a Eucharistic Minister. An active member of the Clark Fire Department Auxiliary, Vera served the brave firemen as they battled large blazes and helped organize community events in their social outreaches. Vera was a nurse working at Union Hospital and retired from Rahway Hospital where she worked on a medical surgical floor, cardiac care, and Rose Hall.

She was a member of the Clark Senior Citizen Club. Vera was very artistic and loved her ceramic classes, knitting, crocheting, and sewing. She made beautiful clothes, slip covers and even drapes.

She decorated her home with her ceramic art. An avid theater and music fan, Vera was even a local star in theater productions at St. John’s. Vera was predeceased by her beloved husband of 53 years, Tony Dorio, her sisters, Marie and Dorothy Komar, Sally Komar Bea, her brother Raymond Komar, and her oldest granddaughter, Leah Dorio, and her son in law, Robert Fyne.

She is survived by her loving children to whom she devoted her time and talents, Jo-Ann Dorio-Fyne, Ralph and Cindy Dorio, Toni and Steve Laba, Bobbi and Anthony Abarno, and her grandchildren, Eric, Clarke, AJ, Joey, Francesca, and great granddaughter, Raven, as well as, many nieces and nephews.
