Obituary for Victor Edward Bernholtz, III Victor Edward Bernholtz, III, 62, passed away at his home in Sharpsburg, Georgia surrounded by family the morning of Tuesday, October 23, 2018 after a courageous fight with cancer. Born April 25, 1956 in Sioux City, Iowa, he was the son of the late Victor E. Bernholtz, Jr. and Ida Mae (Walter) Bernholtz. Victor began his 40 plus years in the telecommunication industry in Des Moines, Iowa.

He worked his way up from a pay phone coin collector with Northwestern Bell, to management positions with AT&T, Lucent Technologies and eventually taking early retirement from Avaya in 2002. Vic, wanting to continue his career, joined Carousel Industries where he was a Senior Project Manager for 12 years. Victor worked diligently and was admired by his peers and respected by his customers, which is reflected in his many awards and accolades over the course of his career.

A loving father, Victor enjoyed supporting his sons in their activities in sports, Boy Scouts, and Northgate High School Band. He also enjoyed relaxing at his home with his family and two dogs, and enjoying a Budweiser, on occasion. Vic never met a stranger and was known for his quick wit and sense of humor as he loved people and wished to leave his mark on anyone he met.

Victor is survived by his loving wife, Pamela, of 33 years and three amazing sons, Ryan (Lacey) Bernholtz of Phoenix, Arizona; Jerod Bernholtz of Sharpsburg, Georgia and Joshua Bernholtz of Atlanta, Georgia. One of nine children he is also survived by three sisters, Pamela (Barry) Anderson of Raymore, Missouri; Kathy Johnson of Kansas City, Missouri; Mary (Kurt) Lemke of Van Meter, Iowa and five brothers, Paul (Toni) Bernholtz of West Des Moines, Iowa; Joseph Bernholtz of Council Bluffs, Iowa; Jim (Cathy) Bernholtz of Grove City, Ohio; John (Quyen) Bernholtz of Forney, Texas and Leigh (Tara) Bernholtz of Whitehouse, Texas plus many nieces and nephews. The family plans a celebration of Victor’s life in his home State of Iowa in the Spring.
