Victor H. Betcher Victor H. Betcher, 84, of Silvis, formerly of Geneseo, passed away on Friday, September 21, 2018, at New Perspective Senior Living in Silvis. Cremation rites have been accorded and a Memorial Service will be held at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday, September 27, 2018, at Vandemore Funeral Home & Crematory, Geneseo Chapel. Deacon Harley Chaffee will officiate.

Visitation will be held from 5:00 – 7:00 p.m. on Thursday, prior to the memorial service, at the funeral home. A private family inurnment will take place Friday, September 28, 2018, at the Rock Island Arsenal. Memorials may be directed to the American Alzheimer’s Association.

Victor was born on October 31, 1933, the son of Harry and Julia (Wicklund) Taylor, in Ashland, New Hampshire. He attended Farleigh-Dickerson College. Victor married Barbara Ann Duplissis on December 13, 1953, in Wharton, New Jersey.

He is a proud veteran of the United States Army, and worked as a Munitions Commander at the Rock Island Arsenal for many years. Victor was a member of the American Legion and a longtime volunteer at Hammond Henry Hospital and Hillcrest Nursing Home in Geneseo. He enjoyed bowling, fishing, hunting, and golfing.

Victor was a fan of all sports and was an avid Geneseo football fan. Those left to cherish his memory include his wife, Barbara, of Silvis, daughters, Connie (Jeff) Melby, Cindy Betcher, and Kathy Betcher, all of Moline, grandchildren, Molly Danay, Hilary (Evan) Nelson, Sarah (Chris) Jacobi, Charlie Caldwell, and Sampson Sprague, and great-grandchildren, Owen and Reid Jacobi, Hunter Danay, and Esme Nelson. Victor was preceded in death by his parents, two sisters, Ellen Reilly and Ingrid Carlson, and two brothers, Raymond and Donald Taylor.
