Lyle R. Miller, 94, of rural Geneseo, passed away on Monday, October 15, 2018, at his home. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, October 20, at St. John’s Lutheran Church, in Edford Township. Burial will follow at Oakwood Cemetery in Geneseo.

Visitation will be held from 4:00 – 7:00 p.m. on Friday, October 19, at Vandemore Funeral Home & Crematory, Geneseo Chapel. Memorials may be directed to St. John’s Lutheran Church. Lyle was born on October 5, 1924, the son of Raymond and Florence (Wiese) Miller, in Edford Township, in rural Geneseo, Illinois.

He is a 1944 graduate of Geneseo High School. Lyle married Joyce E. Peterson on February 2, 1947, at Concordia Lutheran Church in Geneseo. Lyle was a lifetime grain & livestock farmer in Edford Township.

He was a member of the Henry County Farm Bureau, and his true passion was farming the land he loved. Most of all, Lyle enjoyed spending time with his family and friends. Those left to cherish his memory include his wife, Joyce, sons; Gary (Shirley) Miller, of Geneseo, Rick (Debbie) Miller, of Moline, daughter, Deb Ward, of Atkinson, six grandchildren, eleven great-grandchildren, and his brother, Kendall Miller, of Paradise, CA.

Lyle was preceded in death by his parents, Raymond and Florence, granddaughter Donna, and a sister, Gail.
