Bernard W. Glynn Bernard W. Glynn, 93, of Geneseo, passed away on Saturday, October 13, 2018, at Hammond-Henry Hospital Long-term Care. A Funeral Mass will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Friday, October 19, 2018, at St. Malachy Catholic Church in Geneseo. Father Michael Pakula will celebrate the Mass.

Military honors will be accorded by Don Cherry VFW Post, following the Funeral Mass at the Church. Visitation will be held from 5:00-7:00 p.m. on Thursday, October 18, at Vandemore Funeral Home & Crematory, Geneseo Chapel, with a scripture service beginning at 7:00 p.m. Deacon Larry Honzel will lead the scripture service. Burial and graveside services will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Monday, October 22, 2018, at Fort Logan National Cemetery in Denver, Colorado.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to St. Malachy Catholic Church or the American Cancer Society. Bernard was born on September 23, 1925, the son of Bernard W. Glynn, Sr. and Cora I. (Graves) Glynn, in Duluth, MN. He is a graduate of Morgan Park High School.

He graduated from the University of Minnesota in 1949. Bernard married Margaret J. Olson on June 19, 1948, in Duluth, MN. Margaret preceded him in death in 2000.

He was then united in marriage to Charlene K. Munson on February 14, 2002, in Geneseo. Bernard worked for Illinois Bell Telephone Company for 34 years as an engineer. He retired in 1985.

Bernard is a proud veteran of the United States Navy and served his country during World War II as a radio technician. Bernard was a member of St. Malachy Catholic Church. He is a former member of Lombard Holy Trinity Lutheran Church, where he served on the church council.

Bernard enjoyed traveling and camping. Most of all, he enjoyed spending time with his family and friends. Those left to cherish his memory include his wife, Charlene, daughters; Pamela Jordan, of Austin, TX, Diana Engstrom, of Austin, TX, Patricia (Joe) Bond, of Phoenix, AZ, Joan (Don) DeAvilla, of Cary, IL, and Paula (David) Yost, of Osage Beach, MO, step-children; Lori (Richard) Erickson, of Geneseo, Teri (Mike) Long, of Bettendorf, IA, Carol (Eric) Gustafson, Geneseo, and Marty (Krista) Munson, of Geneseo.

Bernard is also survived by his 11 grandchildren, 10 step-grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren, and 16 step-great-grandchildren. Bernard was preceded in death by his parents, Bernard, Sr. and Cora, his first wife, Margaret, one step-son, Kevin Munson, and one sister.
