OBITUARY Victoria M. Finn March 6, 1920 – November 18, 2018 Victoria M. Finn, 98 Native Staten Islander; greatest joy was being a grandma Victoria M. Finn, 98, a lifelong resident of Travis, S.I., passed away surrounded by family on Nov. 18, 2018, at Carmel Richmond Nursing Home and Rehab Center, where she resided for the past two years. Born Victoria Marie Kochman in “Linoleum-ville” (Travis) to Polish immigrant parents, “Vicky” spent almost her entire life in the home in which she was born.

Vicky delighted in decorating her house for every holiday, especially Christmas. She was proud of her Polish heritage, but proud even more so to be an American, displaying the Stars and Stripes as much as possible. Vicky attended every Travis Independence Day parade since she was born, save for the past two.

She was a great cook, and prepared Polish, Irish, and Italian meals for family and friends who would visit from Canada and Europe, right up until age 96! Vicky was loved by her family. She was an extremely giving and selfless person who dedicated herself to her family, always putting herself last.

Her greatest joy was being grandma to her devoted grandson, Brian. She was a person of great faith, and a lifelong parishioner of St. Anthony of Padua Church. Vicky retired from Bayley Seton Hospital in 1998, having worked in the admissions department for 22 years.

She enjoyed traveling to destinations like Canada, the Caribbean, U.K., France, and Italy. Vicky met with several popes in her lifetime, including Saint John Paul II and Benedict XVI. She vacationed frequently in Florida and Cape Cod.

Vicky was predeceased by her husband, Edward J. (“Ned”) Finn, in 1976, as well as by her son, Edward J. Finn Jr., in 1998. She is survived by her son, Dr. David W. Finn and daughter-in-law, Dr. Sharon V. Greene, and by her beloved grandson, Brian D. Finn. Also surviving are loving nieces and nephews, including Msgr.

Peter G. Finn, Pastor Emeritus/Administrator of Blessed Sacrament Church and Dean of Staten Island. Family and friends may visit at the Harmon Funeral Home Friday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Requiem Mass is Saturday at 11 a.m. at St. Anthony of Padua Church, Travis. Interment will follow at St. Peter’s Cemetery.
