Obituary of Violet Beallis Violet J. Beallis “Vi” (nee Peterson) Age 90, passed away peacefully on Monday, April 23, 2018 at The Cottages of New Lenox. Born on March 16, 1928, in Joliet, she was the daughter of the late Harlow and Mary (nee Mussario) Peterson. She was a devout Catholic, member of the Church of St. Jude, a longtime member of TOPS, Shorewood, and an avid traveler.

Vi loved animals, especially her companion, “Thomas the Cat”. Violet is survived by her son, Dr. Scott (Mojdeh) Beallis, D.D.S.; her daughter, Joy Beallis-Souza; three grandchildren, William Souza (age 25), Kevin Beallis (age 17) and Steven Beallis (age 15); and two nieces, Sandra (Michael) Strom and Laurie (Cary) Plettau. Several other nieces and nephews also survive.

She was preceded by her loving husband of 57 years, William “Bill” R. Beallis (December 22, 2005), her parents, and brother, Harlow L. “Toots” Peterson (2007). The family would like to thank the caring staff at The Cottages of New Lenox and Great Lakes Hospice for their care and compassion shown to Vi. A Mass of Christian Burial for Violet J. Beallis will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m., Wednesday, April 25, 2018, at the Church of St. Jude, 2212 McDonough Street, Joliet.

Interment will follow at Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials to the Church of St. Jude Building Fund or the Will County Humane Society would be appreciated. A private intimate gathering of family for her visitation has already been held in accordance with her wishes.
