Obituary for Virgie Trosclair Ott Virgie Trosclair Ott, a lifelong resident of Gretna, passed away peacefully on June 4, 2018 at the age of 82 years. Beloved wife of the late Edmund B. Ott, Jr. Mother of Julie L. Ott and Jill E. Ott. Sister of Bea Panepinto and Sr. Dorothy Trosclair, O.P. Daughter of the late Joseph Trosclair and Beulah Keller Trosclair of Harvey, LA.
Also survived by many loving relatives and dear friends. Virgie began her service to the citizens of Gretna as Executive Secretary to Mayor Ronnie Harris and was appointed Tourism Coordinator for the City of Gretna, a position held for 21 years until her retirement in September, 2011. She coordinated for the Krewe of Janus Ball under the late Chase Dickey, was an active member of the German Genealogical Society, Gretna Historical Society, Crescent City Depression Glass Society and the Louisiana Division of the United Daughters of the Confederacy, Gretna Chapter and was an active parishioner at St. Anthony Catholic Church and later, St. Joseph Catholic Church.
Virgie worked tirelessly and was a fixture at so many community functions. She was proud of her heritage and of her community. While her passing is sorrowful, her life and her legacy will be celebrated.
