Obituary for Virgil M Wilks Mr. Virgil M. Wilks a resident of Brundidge, AL passed away Thursday, January 3, 2019 at Flowers Hospital in Dothan. He was 79. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Sunday, January 6, 2019 at Ramah Baptist Church with Pastor Brian McLendon officiating.

Burial will follow in Ramah Baptist Church Cemetery with Skeen Funeral Home of Troy directing. The family will receive friends Sunday at the church from 1:00 p.m. until service time. He was born April 25, 1939 in Pike County, AL to the late Thomas Frank Wilks and Thetie Harden Wilkes.

Mr. Wilks was a hard working, God fearing man. He was also a Deacon at Antioch Baptist Church on Connell Road. In addition to his parents he was also preceded in death by his son, Jerry Barr, a daughter, Joretta Starling, four brothers and two sisters.

He is survived by his wife Jean Wilks, Brundidge; children, Jeff Barr, Montgomery, and Jennifer Dansby (Jackie), Dothan; brothers, Robert Wilks (Leola), Phenix City, AL and Sam Wilks (Amy), Temple, GA ; sisters, Mable Carter, Brundidge, Ann Slaughter, Phenix City and Kathy Jacob (Jake), Douglasville, GA; 10 grandchildren, 8 great grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews. Serving as pallbearers will be Shane Barr, Shad Barr, Daniel Ross, Bryan Ross, Nathan Jenkins and Ashley Jenkins. Memorials may be made to American Cancer Society, Pike County.
