On the morning of Sunday, February 10, 2019, Virginia “Ginny” Ann LaVasseur Hill, 88, of Clermont, Florida, passed away at the residence of her son and daughter-in-law in Tallahassee, while surrounded by her loving family. She was born in Flint, Michigan on November 11, 1930, to the now late Telix Thomas and Amy Rose Pommerville LaVasseur. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, John Robert Hill; son, Randy Hill; daughter-in-law, Barbara Hill; daughter, Marlene Rathman; grandsons, Tate Hill and Tanner Hill; great-granddaughter, Emma Geiger; and sibilings, Alexina Teffner, Cora Tugya, Earl LaVasseur, Sr. Martha Veenhuis and Beatrice Bishiop.

A loving and dedicated homemaker, she was also a CNA and hairdresser, and had resided in Clermont with her devoted friend and companion, Reuben Teagle. She loved playing cards, poker, pool and casino trips. She is survived by her daughter, Terry Smith (husband, Curt) and son, Jody Hill (wife, Juli); grandchildren, Lonnie Hill, Casey Smith (wife, Carolyn), Bradey Smith (wife, Nicole), Cody Smith (wife, Andrea), Megan Griffin (husband, Kyle), Taylor Carlquist (wife, Whitney), Will Carlquist (wife, Erin), Spencer Rathman, Tara Carter (husband, George), Tucker Hill, Araela Sumner and Landon Sumner; great-grandchildren, Anthony Davis, Bella Donnan, River Smith, Reif Smith, Iyla Smith, Collin Smith, Jacob Geiger, Ashlyn Griffin, Luke Geiger, Kalen Griffin, Avalee Griffin, Russell Carlquist, Rosemary Carlquist and Beau Carter.

Also surviving is a sister, Jennette Romanowski. Ginny was a loving and devoted mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and friend, who will be loved and missed by all who knew her. The funeral service is 3:00 PM, Tuesday, February 12, 2019, at Abbey Funeral Home, with the family greeting friends an hour prior to the funeral.

Private family interment will be at Tallahassee Memory Gardens. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Big Bend Hospice. Online condolences may be expressed at www.
