Virginia “Ginny” Zimmerman, 77, of East Moline formerly of Milan, was called to rest by her Heavenly Father on June 10, 2018. Ginny passed away peacefully at her home. Funeral service will be held at 10:00 am on Friday, June 15, 2018 at Wheelan-Pressly Funeral Home and Crematory, 201 E. 4th Ave.

, Milan. Visitation will be held from 4 pm to 7 pm on Thursday, June 14, 2018 at the funeral home. Burial will be at Rose Lawn Memorial Estate, Moline.

Memorials may be made to the family and will be dispersed to her favorite charities at a later date. Virginia was born on August 10, 1940 in Sullivan County, MO, the daughter of Orval and Doris (Wyant) Cullor. She married Jerry E. Zimmerman on January 25, 1959 in Rock Island.

Virginia had a very strong faith and belief in God which she demonstrated in every aspect of her life. She was a member of St. Matthew Lutheran Church, Milan. Ginny enjoyed floral arranging along with home decorating.

After retiring, her husband Jerry encouraged her to take up painting. She enjoyed gathering with her fellow artists and former coworkers, who were very dear to her. Ginny was active in volunteering for many local organizations and activities.

Virginia is survived by her daughter, Sherree (Steve) Kiefer; son, Jay (Dena) Zimmerman; grandchildren, Katie Nikoel Zimmerman (fiancé Chris DeLoose) and Joshua Zimmerman; great grandson, Cooper DeLoose; siblings, Charles Cullor, Reta (Lennie) Green, Deborah Owen, and Vicki Darrow; several nieces and nephews; and her faithful companion, Gidget. She was preceded in death by her husband, Jerry Zimmerman; her parents; and siblings, Dixie Darlean Cullor, Ruby Louise Hood-Chancellor, Cloe Frederick Cullor, Terry Cullor, and Ronald Cullor. The family would like to give a special thank you to Dr. Durco, Dr. Garneau, and their staff, U of I Hospitals and Clinics, and Genesis Hospice for all their care and compassion for Ginny and her family.

They would also like to give a special acknowledgement to Casey and Kramer for their dedicated help.
