Vivian Grace Miller, 98, of Butler, died Sunday January 20, 2019. It was 45 years to the day after her mother, Eliza Jane Patterson passed away. Born September 9, 1920 in Butler, PA, she was one of seven children born to the late John Daller and Eliza Jane (Patterson) Daller.

Viv was a graduate from Butler High School, class of 1938. She married James Thomas Miller and became the quintessential homemaker, providing a comfortable home, unconditional love and school lunches for 37 years while raising 4 children spanning 4 decades. Viv was a truly gifted master baker.

She lived out her life in Butler but enjoyed traveling and was fortunate to visit Ireland to kiss the Blarney Stone and Italy where she saw Pope John Paul II deliver mass. As a longstanding parishioner of St Paul’s RC Church, she viewed this as one of the best days in her life. She spent 98 years on this Earth, with the secret to her longevity most probably being her “roll with the punches” attitude towards life.

Surviving are her 2 daughters: Carolyn Sue (Ted) Willoughby of Elizabethtown, PA; Jane (Marc) Fogel of Moscow, Russia. 1 son, Tim (Annette) Miller of Riverside, CA. 5 grandchildren: Debbie (James) Jenkins of Pensacola, FLA, Lisa Dixon of Cranberry Twp, PA, Sarah (Patrick) Grubbs of Butler, PA, Ethan Fogel of Montreal, Canada, Sam Fogel of Bozeman, MT 5 great grandchildren: Zachary Jenkins of San Francisco, CA, Alex Dixon of Baltimore MD, Meredith Willoughby of Etters, PA, Mitchell Willoughby of Colorado Springs, CO, Toby Grubbs of Butler, PA 3 sisters: Janet Warner of Butler, PA, Betty Lou Turner of Butler, PA and Sandra (Charlie) Walton of Burlington, NJ.

1 brother: Richard (Helen) Daller of Butler, PA In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, James T. Miller; also 1 daughter Christine Karadeema, 1 brother John Daller and 1 sister Mary Jane Bitter. Friends will be received at the Geibel Funeral Home, 201 East Cunningham Street, Butler on Friday from 10:00 a.m. until 11:30 a.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 12:00 noon, at St. Paul Roman Catholic Church, 128 North McKean Street, Butler.
