Vol Thurman Hewett, 84 of Whiteville, died Friday, May 4, 2018. He was born November 25, 1933 in Brunswick County, the son of the late Charlie and Carrie Hewett. He was preceded in death by his wife, Shelby Jean Tyree Hewett, parents, brother, C.L. Hewett and sisters, Arlene Crowell and Shula Hewett He is survived by a son, O’Brian Hewett and wife, Melissa of Whiteville; daughter, Beverly Powers of Whiteville; four grandchildren; one great grandchild; brothers, Cubie Hewett, Jerry Hewett and wife, Nancy, Joey and wife, Joanne, all of Virginia, Johnny and wife, Linda of Whiteville; sister, Shirley Thompson and husband, Arthur of Holden Beach.

His graveside service will be at 2:00 pm Sunday, May 6, 2018 in Columbus Memorial Park by Rev. David Watts and Rev. Chris Hardee.
