Von’s Obituary Obituary for Von H. Dixon Lt. Col. Von Harold Dixon went to be with Jesus and reunite with his beloved wife, Gloria on October 3, 2018 at the age of 94.

At the time of his death he was a resident in Lakeway, Texas. Von was born in La Junta, Colorado on April 30, 1924. His parents died young leaving Von to help raise and support his two younger brothers, Carl and Jack.

Von married Gloria Taylor on November 28, 1944. They raised six children together and celebrated 55 years of marriage until Gloria’s passing in 1999. Von was an honored WWII veteran serving 24 years and 7 months in the United States Air Force flying fighter jets and later B-52’s.

After military service, he successfully operated his own water chemical treatment franchise, Worth Hydrochem of Austin. Von was a loving husband, father and provider. He placed high value on honesty, hard work and integrity; virtues ingrained in his family.

Von was a man of faith and the patriarch in the Dixon family. He loved family, flying and golf! Von’s legacy is reflected in the life he led and the values he instilled in those he loved.

He is preceded in death by his wife, Gloria and grandson, Zane Dixon. He is survived by his sons: Von Jr. and wife Ann, Donn, Ronn, Michael and wife Shari, Richard and wife Tracy, his daughter Suzanne and husband Jon and dozens of grandchildren and great grandchildren. A memorial service to honor Von’s life will be at Emmaus Catholic Church in Lakeway, TX on Friday, October 12, 2018 at 1:00pm.

Interment will be at Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery in San Antonio, TX on Tuesday, October 16, 2018 at 1:30pm at Shelter 3. In Lieu of Flowers, please donate to a military organization of your choice.
