She was a joyful, happy, compassionate person. Vonza loved people. She started in her early youth, where she succored and taught her youngest brother his alphabet, numbers, and even walked him to school on his first day of school and loved it.
This was the start of many years of teaching others. She went to Normal school as soon as she graduated from high school- top of her class (there were less than 10 members of her graduating class). She taught almost every grade and was claimed by many parents to be the best teacher their children had ever had.
She taught in Primary, Young Women, Relief Society as well as Sunday School and was very loved. Perhaps it is when she was working with the Young Women that she learned more about Book of Remembrances and was motivated to make dozens of Scrap Books/Books of Remembrance which are very precious to her family. Most importantly, Vonza was a wonderful example of loving kindness to her husband and their 7 children.
She was always learning-continuing her education all her life. She and her husband sold their home in Canada when she was older than 40 years old and went to Brigham Young University to increase that knowledge for both herself and her husband and to help their children. She loved to garden- vegetable, flowers etc.
and taught her family the same. All these talents, and many more she and Bob used while they were serving their mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints- even using their love of dancing down in Tonga where they taught the youth “Ballroom Dancing”. Vonza had good health and a firm testimony of Jesus Christ and His church-the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints for most of her life until she started losing her memory.
Vonza had to fight a good battle with Dementia – and she finally won! She now remembers her Faith in the Lord Jesus Christ and the Church of Jesus Christs of Latter-day Saints and is dancing with her sweetheart in heaven.
