Wallace J. Murphy Sr., 83, of Sharpsburg, Georgia, passed away at his home surrounded by his loving family. Wallace was born October 10, 1935 to the late Fred and Dora Allen Murphy in Cherokee North Carolina. In addition to his parents, Wallace is preceded in death by his son Wallace J. Murphy Jr., grandchild; Paige Murphy, brothers; Arvil and Swinson Murphy Surviving is his wife Mattie Brooks Murphy of the home, grandchild, Brandy (Matthew) Dyer; great grandchildren, Camden Dyer, Maddex Dyer, Emery Rose Dyer, Ryan Scott Stidham, Weston Lee Stidham; sisters, Reba Fowler, Desma Chastain, Loretta (Eugene) Heard and Carmel Worley; as well as several nieces and nephews.

Wallace served our nation in the U S Navy for a short while and then worked for Owens Illinois Glass Company for over 37 years. He enjoyed being outside and living in Georgia. Funeral services for Wallace will be held Thursday January 17, 2019 at 12 o’clock noon from the chapel of McKoon funeral home.
