Rupert Funeral Home and Cremation Service (814) 275-1313 Walter James “Jim” Kunselman, age 87, of New Bethlehem, passed away on Thursday afternoon, September 13, 2018 at UPMC Northwest at Seneca. Born June 8, 1931, he was the son of the late Roy and Frances Shick Kunselman. He proudly served in the United States Navy from 1948 thru 1951.

He served aboard the USS Midway and was a veteran of the Korean Conflict. Jim married the former Marilyn Williams on April 26, 1969 and she survives. He was a machinist by trade and retired by Damon Industries in East Brady.

He was also a self-employed house painter and continued to work until his health no longer permitted. He painted many homes in and around the New Bethlehem area. Jim enjoyed watching sports on tv, especially the Steelers and Pirates.

Although he had many opportunities to attend the games he preferred “the best seat in the house” in his own living room. He loved attending auctions and tending to his flowers. Survivors include his wife, Marilyn: two sons: William Jon Kunselman and his wife, Cynda, of Templeton and Daniel Kunselman (Nina) of Fairmount City; two daughters: Debra Gollner and her husband, Marcelo of California and Linda Kunselman of Distant; numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren and great great grandchildren and one step son, David Downs of New Bethlehem.

Jim is also survived by a sister, Rose M. Magness and her husband, Gene, of New Bethlehem; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, nieces, nephews and cousins. In addition to his parents, Jim was preceded in death by a son, Walter James Kunselman, II on February 15, 2018 and a sister, Kathryn Potter. Family and friends are invited to attend a memorial service for Jim at 3:00 p.m. on Saturday, September 29, 2018 at the Rupert Funeral Home and Cremation Service chapel, 233 Penn Street, New Bethlehem.

Interment will take place in the Middle Run Cemetery in Redbank Township, Clarion County. Online condolences may be sent to Jim’s family at www.
