Walter Lee Chandler Sr., 77 of Clarksburg passed away on Monday, February 25, 2019 at the United Hospital Center with his family by his side. He was born January 28, 1942 in South Charleston, WV; the son of the late James E. and Blanche Mae Jones Chandler. Walter is survived by two children, Ronald (Connie) Chandler of Anmoore and Lisa Williams of Clarksburg; three step children, Martin (Loretta) Williams of Stonewood, Jerry Williams of Mt.

Clare and Robin Williams Goodman of Clarksburg; two brothers and best friend, Joe (Becky) Chandler and Jimmy (Barbara) Chandler of Hurricane; half siblings, Annabelle Pumphery of Weston, Joyce Garrett of Weston, Rhoda Gandee of Charleston and Frankie Chandler of Charleston; two special cousins, Billy Jones and Steve Kincaid of NC; a special friend, Ronald(Shirley) Thompson of Philippi; and several nieces, nephews, cousins, grandchildren and great grandchildren. In addition to his parents, Walter is preceded in death by his wife, Venus Chandler; three children, Patty Harper, Walter “Chico” Chandler Jr., John Chandler and one brother Sherman Searls. Walter was self-employed as a mechanic and loved to work on cars.

His favorite hobby included going to many different festivals and listening to gospel bluegrass music. Family will receive friends at Davis Funeral Home, 124 Olen Thomas Dr., Clarksburg, on Thursday February 28, 2019 from10am until the time of the funeral service at 1:00pm with Pastor David Claypool and Baron Claypool presiding. Interment will follow at Stonewall Park Cemetery.
