Walter’s Obituary DAVENPORT, Walter Ralph – Of Flint, age 80, died Monday, February 25, 2019 at Ascension Genesys Hospital. Funeral service will be held 11am Friday, March 1, 2019 at the Swartz Funeral Home, 1225 West Hill Road, Flint, Pastor Donald Dennis officiating. Burial in Flint Memorial Park.

Contributions may be made to Higher Praise Pavilion Fund. Visitation 5-8pm Wednesday, 10am-3pm and 5-8pm Thursday and 10am Friday at the funeral home until the time of the service. Walter was born in Flint on December 24, 1938, the son of the late Ralph and Dorothea (Smith) Davenport.

He worked for 42 years for Grand Blanc Schools and served 16 years on the Bendle School Board. Walter was a volunteer firefighter for over 30 years at Burton Station #1. He also volunteered in numerous community services and was in the Army National Guard.

Surviving are wife of 32 years, Eileen Marie Davenport; Children, Tammy Hampton, John Davenport, Laura (John) Fazenbaker, James (Melody) Davenport, Penny Smith and Jeff Davenport; 11 grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren; And many beloved nieces and nephews. Walter was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Phyllis; son-in-law, Brian; and daughter-in-law, Jodi.
