Obituary of Wanda Cross Holmes Wanda Sue Cross Holmes, age 64, passed away in her home in Denton, NC on the morning of June 2, 2018. Mrs. Holmes was born in Asheboro on April 21, 1954 to Joseph Henry Cross, Sr. and Peggy Marie Bullins Cross. She was a 1971 graduate of Asheboro High School and a 1990 Registered Nurse graduate of Davidson Community College.

Wanda was a member of New Center Christian Church where she grew to love her former pastor, Rev. Jimmy Shirlen. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her son in law, Lonnie Vernon Busby, II and sister in law, Kathy Cross.

She was a loving wife, mama, and grandma. She was the first in her family to go to college. She dedicated her life toward her work as a geriatric nurse and retired from Mountain Vista Health Park as a Registered Nurse, touching the lives of all those around her.

She truly loved her patients, they were family to her. She was a more devoted Elvis fan than anyone could ever aspire to be and had two spoiled cats named George and Gracie who were never underfed. She was an accomplished quilter and loved to read.

She was beautiful, smart, stubborn, and funny. She was too wonderful to put into words. We were all incredibly blessed to love her, and we know that she is now reunited with her beloved mother in Heaven.

She will be dearly missed. She is survived by her husband of 46 years, Walter Wayne Holmes; daughters, Sheila Busby of Asheboro and Sally George and her husband, Martin of Thomasville; grandchildren, Summer Holmes, Sarah George, Noah Holmes, Joshua Thompson, Riley George, and Henry George; great grandchilren, Teagan And Micah; brothers, Tim Cross and his wife, Lou and Jody Cross. The family will receive friends Wednesday, June 6, 2018 from 6:00 to 8:00 PM at Pugh Funeral Home, 437 Sunset Avenue in Asheboro and other times at her home.

Funeral services will be held Thursday at 11:00 AM at the Pugh Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Jonathan Burris and Preacher Tim Cross officiating. Burial will follow at Randolph Memorial Park in Asheboro.
