Obituary for Wayland Hicks Funeral services for Wayland Hicks, age 51, of Lindale, Texas are scheduled for 10:00 A.M. Tuesday, July 24, 2018 at the Cross Brand Cowboy Church in Tyler with Rev. Wayne Flowers and Bro. Bobby McClenny officiating.

Interment will follow in the Bethesda Cemetery with services under the direction of Caudle-Rutledge-Daugherty Funeral Home in Lindale, Texas. Wayland died Wednesday July 18, 2018 in Henderson County, Texas. He was born on September 20, 1966 in Tyler, Texas to Jerry Dan and Sarah Ann (McClenny) Hicks and was a lifelong resident of Lindale.

A graduate of Lindale High School and Tyler Junior College, Wayland worked for over 33 years for The United States Postal Service as a Supervisor. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Lindale, Texas. Wayland was a hunting guide for the Baker 3 Ranch in Rocksprings, TX where his love for music was sparked at campfires while entertaining hunting buddies.

Wayland quickly became an East Texas favorite entertaining crowds, telling legendary jokes and sharing his stories through music. His band, “Wayland Hicks and The Travelers”, had several songs make The Texas Country Music Charts. Wayland is survived by his wife of 30 years, Wendi Hicks of Lindale, Texas; children, Kayli Hicks of Lindale, Texas, Konner Hicks of Lindale, Texas and Klaire Hicks of Lindale, Texas; parents, Dan & Sarah Hicks of Lindale, Texas; brothers, Wendell Hicks and spouse Kevin Casey of Tucson, Arizona, Wesley Hicks and wife, Nadia of Lindale, Texas; nieces and nephews and many other family members, dear friends and fans.

Serving as pallbearers will be Wesley Hicks, Wendell Hicks, Marc Philpot, Steve Sitton, Craig Wood, Karl Mangrum, Mike Joiner and Chris Keathley. Honorary pallbearers are Jim Wilson, Robert McClain, Buddy Gibson, Caleb Lawrence-Hicks, Cameron Hicks, the members of the “Camp Wisdom Hunting Club”, and the Florida Boys. The family will receive friends from 6:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. Monday, July 23, 2018 at the Caudle-Rutledge-Daugherty Funeral Home in Lindale.
