OBITUARY Waymon M. “Cheeko” Cheek June 11, 1926 – November 7, 2018 Waymon passed peacefully on November 7, 2018. He was preceded in death by his wife of 54 years, Hazel and his only son Gary. Also preceded by his brother Andy and sisters Icy, Ida Belle, Myryl and Idell.

He is survived by daughter Sandy Cunningham and husband Dave. Grandchildren- David Cheek and wife Allie, Kristy Mayo and husband Sebastian, Mike Cheek and wife Julia and Jacob Cunningham. Great grandchildren Macy, Mallory and Bryson.

Sisters Lillie Mae Hall and Cora Lee Burfield. Waymon was a World War II and Korean War Veteran. He retired from Woodward Governor in 1987 after 36 years in the plating department.

Waymon was a hardworking Southern Man, who loved his family and friends until his glass ran out of sand. You could always count on “Cheeko” if you needed a helping hand. He came from humble beginnings and never forgot that.

He was the best Dad my brother and I could have ever hoped for. Visitation will be at Sunset Funeral Home 8800 North Alpine Road in Machesney Park, Illinois on Tuesday, November 13 at 10:00 with funeral services starting at 11:00. Burial with Military Honors will follow at Sunset Memorial Gardens.
