Obituary for Wayne Baker Jr. Howard “Wayne” Baker, Jr. entered the gates of heaven on Saturday April 28, 2018. Wayne was born on April 3, 1953 in Clarendon, TX to Howard Wayne Baker, Sr. and Betty June Phillips Baker. He was a loving husband, a devoted father, and a fine grandfather.

Wayne worked in the oil and gas industry throughout his life and retired as a safety manager for United Vision Logistics. He loved football, specifically the NFL, and was a fervent Dallas Cowboys fan. He was very enthusiastic about both college and professional Texas football teams.

Wayne also had a very strong, deep love for animals. To him, there would never be a stray animal. He donated regularly to the Animal Society for Prevention of Cruelty to Animals and attended the ASPCA annual balls.

With his love of camping and fishing, he would often take family trips with his two oldest children, Coury and Callie. In 1996 he met Peggy, the love of his life, whom he wed in 1997. Peggy brought three children to the marriage, and he loved them dearly.

Wayne and Peggy both shared the same passion and love for animals and were proud owners of several dogs: these were “their babies”. In 2013, his beloved Peggy passed away from cancer with Wayne by her side. In 2014, Wayne made the decision to adopt Peggy’s youngest daughter Katherine.

Though she was 23 years old at the time of adoption, he had raised her since she was 5 years old and he felt it was very important for her to know that she was, and always will be, one of his own children. He loved all 3 of his children very deeply. Wayne is preceded in death by his parents Howard Wayne Baker, Sr. and Betty June Phillips Baker, and his beloved and beautiful wife Peggy.

He is survived by his 3 children Coury Baker, Callie Baker and fiancée Gary, Katherine Nelson and husband Ray; 3 grandchildren Alivia, Savannah, and Brodey; his sister Patricia Montgomery and husband Jimmy; along with a niece and 2 great nephews. A Memorial Service for Wayne will be held Saturday, May 5, 2018 at 10 AM at Smith & Turner Chapel in Yukon, OK.
