March 17, 1937 – January 21, 2019 Share this obituary Send Flowers View/Sign Guest Book| Send Sympathy Card Wayne Robbins Jr Long time Avon, IN resident, Wayne Robbins, Jr, 81 years of age passed away on January 21st, 2019 at IU Hospital, West while surrounded by his family Wayne was born March 17th, 1937 to Edith Robertson-Welch and Wayne Robbins. Wayne married his high-school sweetheart and love of his live, Joan Darlene Lucas on January 17th, 1959, having just celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary.

Surviving Wayne is his Wife; Joan Darlene and his children; Drue Ann McEvilly (William), Wayne Robbins, III (Erma), Dawn Elaine Wickham (Jed) and Deanna Joan Ruppel (Bryan). Wayne was the proud grandfather of 9 and great grandfather of 9 also. While having graduated from George Washington High School in 1955, Wayne’s achievements included Table Tennis Champion and Yo-Yo Champion.

Wayne was employed by Detroit Diesel Allison (Transmission Division) in Speedway from 1955-1992. While working for Allison’s Wayne was drafted into the Army, May 1960 as a Army Paratrooper (Specialist 4th Class Combat Engineer) assigned to the 101st Airborne Division until his discharge in 1966 with Honorable Mentions After retirement from Allison’s Wayne continued to work the remainder of his life. Having worked at Monty’s Food Market (Avon), AMG Engineering (Indianapolis), and as a small package courier delivery driver for companies; DD, Jet, and Harding Poorman.

Many of Wayne’s past employers recognized Wayne as a conscientious, punctual, and diligent employee. Wayne’s love for his family was undeniable. Family was first and foremost in his thoughts and life.

Second to his family was none other than his John Deere tractor and Big White Delivery Van. Services for Wayne will be at Conkle Funeral Home, Inc, Avon IN on Saturday January 26th, 2019. Visitation from 11am to 2pm followed by the funeral service at 2pm.

In lieu of flowers the family asks that Donations be made in honor of Wayne Robbins Jr to the American Heart Association and/or American Lung Association. Online condolences may be shared at www. conklefuneralhome.com.
