He fell in love with the PNW when he came out here to work in Athena, OR during the pea season for 2 summers as a teenager. He married “the one” for him on Feb 3, 1952 and moved through an amazing life earning a college degree and finishing law school to become an attorney. In the midst of that, he worked with the FBI and was also a training officer in the Army.

He and his wife moved many times before settling in Portland, OR. There he found his passion working as an estate planner in a banks Trust Department. He never deterred from that work until they moved to Walla Walla in 1976, after 2 years in the Seattle area.

In Walla Walla he always strove to provide the best service to the customers of Baker Boyer Bank. He helped to open a branch in Milton-Freewater, OR and finished his career in banking as the bank President in Milton-Freewater. Afterwards, he continued in the private sector to follow his passion by practicing law in Oregon where he again pursued estate planning until 2015.

He never tired of helping others. During his time in Walla Walla he initiated several opportunities for those less fortunate to get a chance to shine. He, along with other colleagues, began The Blue Mountain Community Foundation which today is thriving.

He also pioneered the Estate Planning Council. He started a scholarship fund for Trenton High School Students in honor of his football Coach – “Coach Russell”. He and some of his football buddies were able to start that and it has continued for several decades now.

He also set up a trust to help take care of a family cemetery in Trenton. His life was about doing the best he could do wherever he found himself. Being from the “show me” state of Missouri he had a high standard for himself but he was often forgiving of shortcomings anywhere else.

He was honored as a Distinguished Alumni in 2010 at Trenton Jr. College and was one of a four-man team from the Walla Walla Country Club, that won the International John Deere Golf Championships in 1993. He is survived by his wife, Dolores J. Peery; two sons, Stan and Steven (wife Sandy) Peery; three grandkids – Caleb, Hannah, and Mary Peery. also by a brother-in-law Robert Browning and his children, Randy (wife Nancy), Rod (wife Dalanna), and Bev; grandchildren, Matthew (wife Courtney), Jessica and Logan; and great- grandchildren, Lexi and Evan.

He is also survived by several other extended family members through the Harbert side of the family. Funeral services will be held Tuesday, March 12, 2019 at 10:00 AM at the Pioneer United Methodist Church, 209 East Birch Street, Walla Walla, Washington 99362. Interment will follow at Mt.

View Cemetery in Walla Walla with Full Military Honors. Visitation will be on Monday, March 11, 2019 from 5-7:00 PM at Munselle-Rhodes Funeral Home, 902 S. Main, Milton-Freewater, Oregon 97862 Memorial contributions may be made to the Blue Mountain Community Foundation (Pete and Dolores Peery Scholarship Fund) or the North Central Missouri College Foundation (C.F.
