Obituary for Wilbur Hugh Pelham Wilbur Hugh Pelham, age 94 of rural Sumner, Illinois, passed away Friday, June 22, 2018, at his residence. He was born February 03, 1924 in Lawrence County, Illinois, the son of Roy Levi Pelham and Ruth Jane Crouch Pelham. He married Elsie Frances Mieure November 04, 1951, and she survives.

Wilbur was a pumper for Texaco Refinery and retired after 35 years of service. Wilbur and his wife Elsie farmed and raised Herford cattle for many years. He was a member of the Union Chapel Church.

Wilbur was a World War II Army Veteran where he served in the Pacific Theatre. He enjoyed playing baseball in his youth and could be found watching his favorite team the Chicago Cubs. Preceding him in death were his parents, brothers: Richard, Roy, Philip and one sister Mary Hansen.

Survivors include: his wife of 67 years, Elsie; one son, Michael Paul Pelham and wife Lora Janee of Franklin, Indiana. One granddaughter Hannah Renee Pelham, who was the joy of his life. Several nieces, nephews and cousins also survive.

Funeral services for Wilbur will be Wednesday, 12:00 p.m. at the Emmons-Macey & Steffey Funeral Home in Lawrenceville, Illinois. Visitation will be Wednesday 11:00 a.m. till the service hour of 12:00p.m. Burial will be in the Lawrenceville City Cemetery. Military rites will be conducted at the graveside.
