GROVES Jr., Wilfred D. “Bill”, 84, of Sharon Dr., passed away with his loving family by his side on Friday, July 20, 2018 at Kent Hospital. He was the beloved husband of 56 years to Gail (Whitman) Groves. Born in Scituate, he was a son of the late Theo (Webber) Sargent and Wilfred D. Groves, Sr

He was the father of Timothy Groves of Coventry and Jeffrey Groves and his wife Christina of Pawtucket; Grandfather of Sara, Allison and Eathen Groves and brother of Carol Forcier, Harlow Groves, Scott Henderson and the late Sharon Beaudoin. An Army veteran of the Korean War, Bill loved to see people have a good time and enjoyed great times with many friends. He was a man who found pleasure in the little things in life.

He enjoyed sports, woodworking, furniture refinishing and taking slow boat rides with his family and friends with a “cool one” in his hand. He willingly shared anything he owned with anyone who had a need for it. Relatives and friends may gather in the parking lot of the IANNOTTI Funeral Home, 415 Washington St. (Rte.

117), Coventry on Thursday, July 26, 2018 at 10:15 am and then proceed to the Rhode Island Veterans Cemetery for Committal Prayers and Military Honors at 11:00 am. Visitation will be held Wednesday, July 25, 2018 from 4:00 – 7:00 pm. In lieu of flowers, donations in Bill’s name the American Cancer Society (cancer.org) would be appreciated.
