William D. “Bill” Klauer, 82, of East Moline, formerly of Milan, died Thursday, Nov. 22, 2018 at Aperion Care, East Moline. A Mass of Christian Burial will be 10 am on Tuesday at St. Ambrose Catholic Church, Milan.

Burial is at Rose Lawn Cemetery, Moline. Visitation is 4 to 7 pm Monday at the Wheelan-Pressly Funeral Home and Crematory, 201 E. 4th Ave. , Milan, where a rosary will be recited at 3:30 pm.

Memorials may be made to St. Ambrose Catholic Church, Jordan Catholic School or Alleman High School. Bill was born Aug. 7, 1936 in Rock Island, a son of Vincent Sr. and Antoinette Morlok Klauer.

He married Kay F. Watkins on June 22, 1957 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church. Rock Island. He graduated from Alleman High School in 1954.

Bill worked as a sheet metal worker through the Sheet Metal Workers Union Local 91 and previously retired as a millwright from Case-I.H., East Moline. Bill was a member of St. Ambrose Catholic Church, Milan, where he served as an usher and sang in both the adult and funeral choirs. He enjoyed bowling, and tinkering in the garage and yard.

Bill’s greatest love was for his family and attending his grandchildren’s activities, especially their track and cross county running events. Survivors include his wife, Kay; children, Diann (Dave) Lawhorn, Keithsburg, Doug (Brenda) Klauer, Bettendorf, Darrin Klauer, Milan and David Klauer, Rock Island; grandchildren, Amanda (Tony) Jared, Abbey Lawhorn, Ali (Dustin) Kirkpatrick, Elliott Klauer, Lillie Klauer, Alyssa Klauer, Madilynn Klauer, Isabelle Klauer, and Olivia Klauer; five great-grandchildren; and his siblings, Richard Klauer, Moline, Clarence (Shirley) Klauer, East Moline, David (Jean) Klauer, Coal Valley, Bernard (Carol) Klauer, Taylor Ridge, and Cecilia Kargl, Rock Island. He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Fr.
