William “Bill” Martin Jr., 62, of Vernon, passed away at 6:57 p.m. on Friday, February 8, 2019, at St. Vincent Hospital in Indianapolis. Born February 16, 1956 in Scott County, Bill was the son of Betty (Amos) Boardman and the late William Martin Sr. Bill was a 1974 graduate of Jennings County High School and attended Ivy Tech and Indiana University. He worked as a draftsman for Cummins Engine Company in Columbus and had previously worked for Jim Mick TV in North Vernon.

Bill enjoyed flying remote airplanes, bicycle riding and spending time with his nieces and nephews. Surviving with his mother, Betty Boardman of North Vernon are, brothers, Rick (Debbie) Martin and Douglas Boardman all of North Vernon; sister, Sherry Hartwell of North Ft. Meyers, Florida; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his father, William Martin, Sr. and step-father, Donald Dean Boardman. Private Funeral and visitation will be held at the Dove-Sharp & Rudicel Funeral Home and Cremation Service in North Vernon with burial in the Vernon Cemetery in Vernon. Memorials may be made in honor of Bill to St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital.
