Richard Eugene Craig, 78, of North Vernon, passed away at 6:05 a.m. on Wednesday, March 27, 2019, at his residence. Born November 2, 1940, in Middleboro, Richard was the son of Robert and Margorie (Welsh) Craig. He married Angela Damm on March 10, 2010 at The Church of Jesus Christ Latter-Day Saints in North Vernon; she survives.

Richard received a master’s degree from Indiana University and worked as a Psychologist for the former Muscatatuck State Developmental Center in Butlerville until he retired. After retiring, he went to work as a card dealer for Bel-Tera and Caesar’s Casinos. He enjoyed music, guns, knives, coins, landscaping, painting, candle making, and woodworking.

He loved his cats and being a handyman around the house. Surviving with his wife, Angela Craig, are sons, Richard Jason Craig and John Paul Craig, both of Indianapolis; daughters, Maitlin Doyle Craig of Indianapolis and Sydney Marie (Chad) Reynolds of Sapulpa, Oklahoma; grandchild, Oliver Atticus Reynolds of Sapulpa, Oklahoma; brothers, John Thomas Craig and Edwin P. Craig, both of Indianapolis; and sister, Nancy Jo Lewis of Richmond. He was preceded in death by his parents; daughter, Pamela Sanford; brother, Robert; and sister, Judith.

In keeping with his and his family’s wishes cremation is planned. Dove-Sharp & Rudicel Funeral Home and Cremation Service was entrusted with the care of these arrangements.
