Mamie Elizabeth Cross, 88, of Ashland, Ohio, passed away at 10:15 p.m. on Friday, March 15, 2019 at The Good Shepherd Skilled Nursing and Rehabilitation Campus in Ashland, Ohio. Born March 20, 1930 in Indianapolis, she was the daughter of the late Sylva and Mae Combest Renner. She married Freddie E. Cross on June 7, 1971 in Phoenix, Arizona.

He preceded her in death on June 1, 1995. She served as a housewife and enjoyed cross stitching on plastic canvas. She is survived by her son, Billy Joe Vinson Sr. of Ashland, Ohio; sister, Margaret (Steve) Corey of Englewood, Florida; and seventy-eight grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; sons, Bobby Lee Vinson and Benet Ray Vinson; and daughters, Barbara Sue Heath and Brenda Mae Penn. A funeral service for Mrs. Cross will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday, March 20, 2019 at the 1st Baptist Church in North Vernon with Rev. Bryan Brock officiating.

Family and friends may call at the church from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday, March 19, 2019 and one hour prior to the service on Wednesday. Burial will be at Vernon Cemetery. Memorials may be made through the funeral home to help cover expenses.
