Albert Joseph Yux, 95, of North Vernon, passed away at 8:30 a.m. on Monday, March 4, 2019, at his residence. A Mass of Christian Burial will be conducted at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, March 9, 2019, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church. Rev.

Jerry Byrd will officiate. A Rosary service will be conducted at 3:30 p.m. on Friday, March 8, 2019, at Sawyer-Pickett Funeral & Cremation Service. Visitation will be from 4:00-8:00 p.m. at the funeral home.

Born February 26, 1924, in North Vernon, Albert was the son of Frank and Elizabeth (Wolfrum) Yux. He married Virginia Kelly on October 25, 1947. She preceded him in death on April 28, 2010.

He had worked for the North Vernon Sanitation Department for 34 years and had also farmed. He was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church and enjoyed fishing. Albert is survived by a son, David (Sheila) Yux of North Vernon; four daughters, Sherri (Roger) Lucas of North Vernon, Susie (Gerald) Claire of North Vernon, Mary (Rick) Hardwick of North Vernon and Ann (Jack) Mock of Virginia; sister, Rosella Stoner of Greensburg; grandchildren, Jason and Shawn Johnston, Amanda Phillips, Amy Thompson, Erin Albis, Jennifer Johnson, Nicole Gindhart, Gary Claire, Kelly Rigney, Adrian Magner and Cody Sullivan; as well as several great-grandchildren and great-great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife; grandson, Cory Sullivan; twin brother, Del Yux; and four sisters. Memorials may be made through the funeral home to Our Hospice of South Central Indiana.
