William J. “Bill” Craig, 69, entered into rest April 22, 2018 after a brief illness. A private memorial service will follow at a later date. Bill was born on April 21, 1949 in Jellico Plains, Tennessee.

After graduating from Lake City High School, he attended the University of Tennessee, where he earned a bachelor’s degree in forestry in 1972 and a master’s in planning in 1977. Bill worked with the Tennessee Valley Authority in Chattanooga for several years. Following his retirement from TVA, he relocated to Augusta, GA with his family and enjoyed a second career as an Environmental Consultant, first with TetraTech/NUS and later with Dade Moeller and Associates, retiring in 2016.

Bill had a wry sense of humor and loved telling stories from his childhood in the Tennessee mountains. He enjoyed reading, listening to jazz music, and following his beloved Tennessee Vols. Bill was a loving husband, father and grandfather.

He is survived by his wife of 36 years, Susan, daughter Megan Newbold (Mitch), grandson Blake Craig, step-father Nolan Dobbs, sister Sandra Boettiger (Keith), brother Dennis Dobbs (Carol), and several nieces and nephews. His mother, Dorothy Dobbs, preceded him in death. Donations In lieu of flowers may be made in Bill’s name to the CSRA Humane Society or to the charity of one’s choice.
