William “Bill” Alfred McDaniel, Sr., 88, husband of 68 years to Marilyn L. Weber McDaniel, of Lawrenceburg, died Sunday, May 19, 2019. He was born in Georgetown, KY to the late Nealy Alfred and Helen Blakenship McDaniel. Bill was a member of Sand Spring Baptist Church; a retired farmer; and drove semi-trucks for 40 years.

He has also been a member of the Lion’s Club since 1964; member of the Chamber of Commerce; and the Historical Society. Along with his wife he is survived with four children, William Alfred (Billy) McDaniel, Jr., Midway, Thomas Lee (Susan) McDaniel, Sr., of Chipley, FL, Gloria Jean (Gary) Gilkison, of Versailles and Brenda (Ronnie) Naylor, of Lawrenceburg; one brother, James Leonard McDaniel, Georgetown; sister, Christine Baker, Versailles; 10 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; and one great-great grandchild. Bill was preceded in death 3 sisters, Opal and Catherine Hockensmith and Dorothy Sullivan Sulcher; and two brothers, Eugene McDaniel and Sterling McDaniel.

Funeral services will be Wednesday, May 22, 2019 at 11:00 a.m. at Sand Spring Baptist Church with Dr. Mike Hamrick officiating. Burial will follow in Sand Spring Cemetery. Visitation will be on Tuesday from 4-7 p.m. at Sand Spring.

Casket bearers will be his grandchildren. Honorary bearers will be the Versailles Lion’s Club and Danny Baker. Memorial contributions are suggested to Versailles Lion’s Club, PO Box 97, Versailles, KY 40383 or Sand Spring Baptist Church, Building Fund, 1616 Harrodsburg Road, Lawrenceburg, KY 40342.
