William Peat Hansen passed on Monday, May 6th, 2019 in Denton, Texas surrounded by his family. Peat was born on September 23, 1923 in Rogers, Texas to Adolph and Mary Lou Hansen. Peat grew up in Texas City, Texas.

At 6 years-old, Peat sold magazines and later worked as a welder for the family business. He graduated from Texas City High School in 1941. Peat worked for Sid Richardson designing a petroleum plant that would be located in Russia and would make fuel for the war effort.

In 1949, Peat went to work for The Fluor Corporation in Houston, Texas as a draftsman. There he would progress over the next thirty-five years to Executive Senior Vice President worldwide. He served as the Executive Senior Director of the Saudi Arabian Gas Collection Program for the King of Saudi Arabia and ARAMCO representing the The Fluor Corporation.

This was one of the largest engineering projects of all time being roughly $5 billion for Fluor’s portion. In 1987, Peat retired to live near his family in Denton. He continued to participate in several companies under the umbrella of the family’s corporation, The Ridgecrest Group, Inc

He actively worked with the company until 2013, when the company was officially closed. Peat is survived by his son William Paul Hansen of Denton. Granddaughter, Shelby Ray, her husband, Chuck Ray, and great-grandson, Colton Ray of Denton.
