William Russell Hitchings, Jr., 86 of Tyrone, died Friday March 8, 2019. He was born March 24, 1932 the son of the late Russell and Myra (Foust) Hitchings. He is survived by a cousin, Adda Frye.

Bill was a 1950 graduate of Tyrone High School and worked at Westvaco Paper Company, Tyrone. He was a member of Wesley United Methodist Church, a lifetime member of the Tyrone Sportsmen where he was an accomplished trap shooter. He also belonged to the Deepwell Hunting Club.

He was a member of the Tyrone Gardner Guards and marched in the inaugural parade in Washington, DC. He had also been on the Ed Sullivan Show in New York City. Memorial service for William Russell Hitchings Jr. will be held at Richard H. Searer Funeral Home, Inc. on Tuesday, March 12, 2019 at 11 AM with Pastor Tina Hawkins officiating.
