I have a good fight, I have finished my course, I have kept the faith: 2 Timothy 4:7 Willie James Wright was born to the late Willie Lee Wright, Sr. and the late Mother Mary Ella Hardy Wright on December 3, 1948 in Greenville, NC. He departed this life at VA Hospital in Durham, NC on Sunday, March 17, 2019. “Big Will” as he was affectionately called, grew up in Pitt County and graduated from Bethel Union High School in 1968.

After graduation, he joined the US Army and fought in Vietnam War where he became disabled. “Big Will” returned home and was employed with Edenton Forklift. He was an entrepreneur and part owner of H&W Restaurant and later became a disabled veteran.

His fondness hobby was drag racing. “Big Will” was preceded in death by his parents; grandparents, Joe and Girlina Hardy. “Big Will” leaves to cherish his precious memories, his wife, Cynthia of the home; two children, Dana Wright, Sheanite Wright both of Greenville, NC; seven grandchildren, Zae-Twan Wright, Zye-Ryk Wright, Dwinesha Harris, Jurnee Wright, Jada Gaynor, Le’Kiah Wright, Corey Bradley; two great grandchildren, Zayvier Prescott, Zamariah Prescott; three sisters, Jackie George of New Jersey, Stacy Johnson of Raleigh, NC, Zeddie Hardy Wilkins of Greenville, NC; nine brothers, Bobby Hardy,Robert Hardy (Gwendolyn), Linwood Wright (Cora), Julius Wright, Herbert Wright (Joyce), Joe Wright (Denise), Michael Wright, Gerald Wright all of Greenville, NC, Henry Wright (Lena) of New Jersey; drag racing family; a host of other relatives and friends.
