Willie Lee Brown January 16, 1930 – January 22, 2019 Share this obituary Sign Guestbook| Send Private Condolences Willie Lee (Willie Boy) Brown was born on January 16, 1930 to the late Sailor Brown and Laura C. Brown in Columbia, South Carolina. He was the seventh child out of nine siblings. In 1951, Willie moved north to New York City where he enlisted in the United States Army and met and married his wife, Ruthine Brown.

And from that union six children were born. After serving in the Army he began working with the New York City Racing Association known to many as Aqueduct Racetrack. Willie finished his working career when he retired in 1996.

Willie was a firm believer in the word of God which led him to become a deacon at Paradise Baptist Church. He served there for many years until the Lord led him to Second St. John where he was a member until his health began to fail him in 2010. Willie was finally called home on January 22, 2019.

He was preceded in death by his father, Sailor Brown; his mother, Laura C. Brown; his four sisters, Alice, Ruth, Ethel and Dorothy; his three brothers, Junior, Clarence and Thomas; and his son, Clinton Brown. Willie leaves behind: his lovely wife, Ruthine Brown; his sister, Alberta Fuller; his five children, Willie (Clarence), Carletta and son-in-law, Curtis Williams, Patricia and son-in-law, Allister Bryant, Michelle and Darryl and daughter-in-law, Veronica Brown; eight grandchildren, Shante’, Shahid, Crystal, Schnika, Curtis (Chuck), Monisha, Aubrey and Marquita; eighteen great grandchildren; seven great, great grandchildren; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and an abundance of friends including a very special buddy/grandson, Marvin “Mack” Sanders; and the Second Baptist Church Family.
